Magicians… We Need to Talk.

A Little PSA to My Fellow Magicians
This is said with love, because I love our art and I want all of us to look as good as the magic we work so hard to create.
Dress to impress.
And no, that doesn’t mean you need a three-piece suit, designer shoes, or, heaven forbid, a purple suit. 😂
It simply means: show up like you care.
Iron the shirt.
Fix the tie.
Use the lint roller.
Clean your fingernails.
Comb your hair.
And please, my magical brothers and sisters…
If your deck of cards looks like it survived the Civil War, spend the six bucks and retire it. 😂
Same goes for sponge balls that have seen things no sponge ball should ever have to see.
Our audiences notice more than just the magic.
When someone hires us, they’re trusting us with part of their wedding, birthday, corporate event, anniversary, or celebration. They invested in us, and I believe we should invest that same care back into them.
You don’t need expensive clothes. You don’t need manicures. You don’t need to look like anybody else.
You just need to look intentional.
Clean props. Clean clothes. Good hygiene. A professional attitude. And a presentation that says, “I’m grateful to be here, and I came prepared to give you my best.”
Because the experience begins long before the first card is selected.
It starts the moment we walk into the room.
Our magic deserves that kind of care.
More importantly, our audiences do too. 💜
