An Evening of Magic, History, and Friendship at Junkyard Magic

Some shows are memorable because of the audience. Others because of the venue. And every once in a while, everything comes together perfectly.

We recently had the privilege of performing at Junkyard Magic in Simi Valley, a truly one-of-a-kind destination celebrating 13 years of bringing magic, laughter, and unforgettable memories to its guests. From the moment we walked through the doors, it felt like stepping into a place where magic truly belongs.

The restaurant itself is an experience. Everywhere you look, there’s something to discover, creating an atmosphere filled with nostalgia, wonder, and stories waiting to be told.

One of the highlights of the evening was sitting beside legendary magicians Chuck and Jan Jones. Chuck shared the incredible history behind the curtain hanging on stage. It wasn’t just a backdrop. It was the very curtain he used during his shopping mall performances in the 1970s. Knowing Jonathan performed in front of a piece of magic history made the evening even more meaningful.

Spending time with Chuck and Jan was a gift in itself. Their stories reminded us how rich the magic community is with friendship, generosity, and tradition. We also learned that Jan was one of the original Zig Zag Girls, helping bring one of magic’s most iconic illusions to audiences around the world. Sharing an evening with two people whose lives are woven into the history of our art was something we’ll never forget.

For Jonathan, taking the stage at Junkyard Magic carried special significance. So many respected performers and legends have stood on that stage before him. To add his own chapter to the story of this remarkable venue was an honor he doesn’t take for granted.

The night also brought a wonderful reunion with our friends Kerry and Kim Ross. We laughed, shared stories, and enjoyed the kind of conversations that remind us why the magic community feels so much like family. Sometimes the moments behind the scenes become just as magical as the ones under the spotlight.

As we drove home, we couldn’t help but feel grateful. Grateful for the invitation, grateful for the friendships, grateful for the history that was shared, and grateful to be part of an art form that continues to bring people together across generations.
