This past weekend, I had the joy of performing at Camp Ronald McDonald, and let me tell you—it was more than just a show. It was a reminder of something truly magical. I met over 80 incredible kids and the amazing camp staff who all brought such a genuine energy that it lit up the entire place.
But here's the real magic: these kids inspired me by being completely, unapologetically themselves. They didn’t try to fit into any “cool kids club” mold. Each of them was wonderfully unique, and they reminded me of something I wish I’d known as a shy kid myself: life is too short to mute your own magic.
Growing up, I tried so hard to blend in that I forgot to let my own colors show. I thought I had to act, dress, or hide parts of myself to fit some idea of what was “cool.” But these kids? They showed me that being yourself, fully and joyfully, is the coolest thing of all.
So here’s my message to anyone reading this—adult or child: don’t mute yourself. Share your magic. Let your true colors shine. Be unapologetically you, because that’s where the real magic happens. And if you need a little extra push, just remember these kids who taught me that lesson. They’re my heroes.
In the words of Dr. Seuss: “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Thanks to these kids for reminding me to keep living that truth.
