From Dick Van Dyke’s Stage to Back to the Future: My Wildest Month Yet!

An impossibility or did they just all see a ghost?
An impossibility or did they just all see a ghost?

October wasn’t just busy — it was a full-blown magical rollercoaster that never hit the brakes. From taking the stage at Dick Van Dyke’s house in Malibu (yes, THE Dick Van Dyke) to going Back to the Future with our favorite band The Flux Capacitors in San Diego, it felt like we were living inside a highlight reel.

The month kicked off with a whirlwind: performing for Texas Roadhouse’s big wigs, inspiring kids on Career Day in Adelanto, and racing to Apple Valley for a Senior Fall Festival before catching a little break at a Maroon 5 concert.

It honestly felt like we lived out of our suitcase — but when every stop includes new faces, new laughs, and the best food in Southern California, who’s complaining? 🍕

One weekend alone included three birthday parties in one day — from Seven’s “I-Swear-I’m-Eight” Birthday Party to Rachelle’s epic 21st. I even performed for the Huntington Beach Police and Fire Departments, where the police chief didn’t quite trust me (something about the disappearing wallet trick 🤷‍♂️).

From there, it was off to Anthony and Lynn’s joint 60th, then to Palm Springs for a ladies’ getaway show — because nothing says “girls’ trip” like a guy in a purple suit reading minds.

Mid-month brought one of my favorite traditions: teaching magic to the veterans of Barstow, followed by performing with the Brotherhood Crusade on Crenshaw Boulevard, sharing wonder and laughter with families in the community.

And somewhere in between, I found myself in Hollywood for a super-secret project involving a clown, a lawyer, and a magician. (No joke — that’s not the setup to a bit. Stay tuned.)

👻 Halloween Mayhem & Magic

October wouldn’t be complete without some epic Halloween parties, and this year did not disappoint. Jamie stole the show at the Magic Castle Members Halloween event dressed as Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother herself, while I came as the world’s most misunderstood creature — a Dino...S’more (half dinosaur, half campfire snack, fully ridiculous).

We partied our way through Amy and Erick’s legendary Halloween bash, where the energy was electric and — no exaggeration — the magic show literally exploded. Don’t worry, everyone was fine… but wow, what a night! Let’s just say the ghosts weren’t the only ones bringing the fireworks. 🎆

Finally, we wrapped up the month in legendary style — performing at Arlene and Dick Van Dyke’s epic Halloween Show. If you told my ten-year-old self that I’d one day perform magic at Bert's house from Mary Poppins, I’d have probably vanished into a pile of confetti right then and there.

🎁 From Halloween to Home Alone

To close out the month, we took a magical trip to Disney Studios for a D23 Home Alone Anniversary event — because apparently, Halloween and Christmas are now roommates. As Kevin McCallister once said,

“This is my house. I have to defend it.”

Except in my case, it’s more like:

“This is my calendar. I have to book it.”

So goodbye, ghosts and goblins — and hello, mistletoe and magic.

Here’s to a November full of gratitude, giggles, and just enough rest to remember where I parked the purple suit.
