What’s the Most Important Trick a Magician Can Perform?

Recently, I had the joy of being hired as a surprise for a bride-to-be at her bachelorette party.

It was an intimate group at an Airbnb, fresh from the pool, a few piña coladas in, and ready to have fun. We laughed, made some memories, and shared some impossible moments.

But what stuck with me afterward was the review.

She talked about the magic, but she also mentioned something I believe matters just as much: warmth, kindness, and professionalism.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties have become an increasingly popular space for magicians. Social media has helped introduce magic as a fun alternative to more traditional entertainment, and I love seeing it.

But these environments also remind us of an important responsibility as entertainers.

Read the room. Respect boundaries. Make people feel comfortable.

A bachelorette party isn’t a children’s birthday. An 18th birthday isn’t a corporate event. A wedding isn’t a nightclub. There is no one-size-fits-all performance.

At Molo Magic, the tricks may change, the presentation may change, and the energy may change depending on who’s in front of me. What doesn’t change is the goal: create an environment where people feel comfortable participating, laughing, connecting, and experiencing something together.

And maybe there’s a reminder here for my fellow magicians, too.

We’re not really in the trick business. We’re in the people business.
